The Queen and The Pawn Go Back in the Same Box!

Artists For Children partners artists with orphans infected with the HIV/AIDS virus in order to bring art and business skills to these 16 children who live there in a group home. My goal is to bring 16 new laptops to this children's home in 2009/2010, one for each child, in order to teach them simple digital art skills and expose them to digital technology so that they can be a part of the global digital revolution.

Mar 17, 2010 10:03 am

I reached out to several people I know about donating towards the computers.  I only heard back from one person and that didn't yield a donation, only information that I already possessed.  I just contacted an investment firm that has a philanthropy arm to request assistance.  They already do work in Ethiopia.  I hope they can ... Hi! This is really exciting. I'm still trying to navigate the site and how it works. So please pardon my delay in responding. Thanks for your support! Sometimes I feel really overwhelmed by the enormity of this project but mostly I feel excited!

Hi Jevyn,

Welcome to Changents!  I love that quote you have up to "the queen and the pawn go back in the same box." It painted a great picture in my head of all the chess pieces, black and white, kings, queens, pawns, jumbled together in one box.  Seems like a representation of our world - black or white (or any other color!), rich or poor, we're all living on this rock together. Makes sense that we should help each other out and work together despite the fact that sometimes we're on opposing teams.

I love what you've set out to do and I wish you the best of luck. Keep us updated as you begin to make positive change in our world! I'd love to hear some specifics about your plans, hopes, and dreams for this project.  (Yes, that sounds cheesy but it's true!)
