LET'S STOP STUFF FROM RULING OUR WORLDS!

I was watching a rerun of the Colbert show last night and the author "The Story of Stuff" was on to talk about her book. It's amazing how our relationship with THINGS has changed dramatically throughout the last 50 years.

The progression and advent of disposable, convenience, bite-sized, pre-packaged and one-time use stuff is frightening if we think about it in the grand scheme of things. Even stores like Ikea, H & M and the like offer cheap products that don't last long. Take a look at grandma's china cabinet that's been passed down for generations. What will be be leaving our kids (besides landfills and serious environmental and social isues)? The stuff isn't only about the environement. It's about values. It's about society and our relationships to each other, the earth and material goods.

You can also watch the story of stuff on Annie's site here: http://storyofstuff.org/

What do you think? How do you feel about your stuff?
