OBAMA'S HELP + CHANGE AGENTS' GREEN, SUSTAINABLE & SOCIAL PROJECTS + OUR SUPPORT = PROGRESS

Buzz words: Clean energy. Green jobs. Sustainable facilities. Climate change. Obama hit them all, but what impact will it have on our future? For years, Change Agents across the globe have addressed these issues. Finally Washington is chiming in, but is it enough?

Doing is the best way of saying: I whole-heartedly believe in that statement. I also want to believe Obama can change the way things run in Washington and shift our focus from big business and fossil fuels to sustainable, efficient local businesses and renewable engery. I think we’re at a pretty good start and I think with the help of Change Agents across the US we can help ignite the passion to improve our world within our families, friends, communities and networks. And, eventually, the the big guys down in Washington who sign the bills.

Green business is good business and we need advocates and supporters to keep sharing the stories of change around these critical issues. We know the voice of the people is critical in grassroots movements, exactly how all this “green” businesses started. I know the government plays a large role in shaping our economy, however, we have the power to demand eco-friendly and sustainable products, energy and busines and new policies around climate change. Our demand is critical to success.  Like an old professor told me, the squeakest wheel gets the oil.

Knowledge sharing about what values are important to you—whether it be recycling, solar power, wind power, composting, organic farming—is a great place to start to help make this movement toward cleaner and greener ways of living a movement rather than a trend. I think the ability to create a better world is in the hands of Change Agents and social entrepreneurs—all their awesome and innovative ideas and projects—and us!

For example, the Green Guerrillas are sharing their values about protecting nature and the effects of natural gas drilling through media projects like documentaries and good ‘ole WOM. Dorothee from Organic Nation is sharing the news of what’s good, local and ethical and how we can get it on our plates. Jessica Reeder is showing us how to go on an eco-friendly world tour and Viviane Negrotto is showing us sustainable initiatives from communities around the world. Or showing us the way renewable engergy and sustainable companies are succeeding like Erland Howden and Colin from Our Renewable Nation.

I wish the politicians could take a cue from some of our Change Agents. I say, we help them take notice and keep showing -and showing off- our support for the amazing Change Agents and all the good things happening all around us!

Cheers,
Jen
