Ok, so how many of you have noticed the changes around Changents? None? Ok, you’re forgiven…but only because they’ve been subtle (but SUPER important!)
Last night we launched a brand new URL structure and SEO game plan for ALL of Changents.com!
[i’m seeing blank stares…]
Let’s break this down. We’re changed the URL structure for all content on Changents. Why should you care? Well, if you’re a Change Agent it means that your blog post, photo, and video titles are now part of the URL for that page. This means people searching keywords related to your content will find your stuff popping up, whether they meant to or not!
Why is that so cool? You’ve done zero work, but awareness is being raised about you! For example, Andrea Bakacs posted a sweet blog a while ago about greening photo shoots. That blog title is part of her URL. If someone Googles something about green photo shoots, her blog post is more likely to show up than it was before!
We’re not magicians; your stuff won’t be #1 on Google right off the bat. But we are giving you as much help we can so that YOUR content will be found by people out there who are interested in the work you’re doing! And it costs you nothing—no time, energy or money. Yes folks, Changents is just that good.
[what is SEO?]
SEO stands for search engine optimization. WTF, you say? Basically, this goes along with the URL structuring. SEO is basically how web pages are found based on what people are searching in Google, Yahoo, Bing, etc.
So you’ll notice we changed a few words and terms around the site. This all goes helping improve visibility on search engines and get you guys more traffic.
SEO is actually pretty complicated and has a lot of odds and ends. I won't go into a ton of detail because honestly, I'm no guru! But it is important and if you have your own website out there, you should ABSOLUTELY research SEO and incorporate it into your site!
Here are some other tools to help you get started:
- Keyword density checker (www.seochat.com/seo-tools/keyword-density/)
- Key word identifier (http://tinyurl.com/ybul42f).
[and that’s not all]
more very exciting news will be coming soon…so stay tuned!
