What's in store this fall

Check out a new audio post I just did that gives a bit of an update on where we're with the growing 350.org campaign.

And when I say "we," I don't just mean me and the rest of the team behind the scenes at 350.org. I mean all of you. We've gotten some incredible contributions, actions, and ideas over the summer from people around the world. With our friends at Crafster.org we ran a craft contest that generated a ton of cool t-shirt designs, 350 socks and bags, and all sorts of other creative craft projects to get the number 350 out there. In India, my co-coordinator Will worked with youth from across the sub-continent to help build the Indian Youth Climate Movement, which we'll be partnering with closely to spread the 350 message across South Asia. And in China, I had an incredible time this July working with students who are taking action despite all the odds to move their country towards a green economy and sustainable prosperity for all.

There's also been some great stuff happening closer to home. A few weeks ago, our 350 crew in San Francisco took part in Slow Food Nation, a gathering of activists, farmers, cooks, and eaters from across America. Slow food is dedicated to healthy and just food systems. That means supporting local farms and organic agriculture, making sure kids have access to safe and healthy food, and taking the time to enjoy the gift of good food that many of us take for granted. It was an incredible weekend filled with amazing meals and good times with old friends. And it was a good reminder about how diverse this movement really is. 350 isn't just about carbon, it's about farms, and vegetables, and celebration as well.

A lot of this Summer was laying the groundwork: figuring out how to run our website in 10 languages, building a network fo nearly 100 organizations around the world, and learning our way around all of these new online technologies we can all use to build this movement.

Now, we're really ready for lift-off. We've got a cool campaign coming out this October which I think y'all will really like. And then this December, we'll be heading to Poland for the second-to-last United Nations Climate Meeting dedicated to passing an international treaty to stop global warming. It's going to be a key time, one of our last chances to pass an international plan to get us back to 350. We'll be working to bring thousands of voices from around the world to that meeting and making sure our politicians hear that we want action - we want 350.

A lot's in store and I hope y'all will stick around for the ride . . . and invite your friends. We've got a good group of 50 people here on Changents already, let's try and double that in the coming months and really build a strong community that can take action together.
