Hello to all my loyal backers and also to those of you new to Changents. I apologize for the lapse in communication but since I last checked in I have been hard at work developing a solid business and product for POWERleap.   One quick update: POWERleap is among 9 other finalists in the Ignite Clean Energy (ICE) Competition hosted by the MIT ... A truly fantastic concept. One of those things you always hoped you'd see come to fruition. I look forward and anticipate that we will see it underfoot in office buildings, schools, and every other possible location - globally - in the coming years. Best of luck and godspeed.

Hello Miss Elizabeth! I am a senior undergraduate Electronics and Communications Engineering student from the University of the Philippines Diliman. I have known from a friend about your innovative product. I, for one, was really impressed with the ability of your product to generate electricity by force (piezoelectric technology). In this line, my groupmates and I became interested with this. Our professor asked us to present an innovative product but we should evaluate it thru financial and economic analysis. However, based on the articles browsed from the internet, our technical assumptions are not yet complete for your product to be studied. We are asking for your help to assist this because this will not only serve as a group project but also a promotion not only in our campus, which is considered as one of the most prestigious universities in our country, but also here in the Philippines since judges will come from companies and other prestigious universities. I am looking forward for a response in my email: gandabonga@yahoo.com for some possible references or relevant information that can be used in the study. If it's possible, we're hoping a reply from you before Friday (GMT +8:00) so that we can change our study once assumptions cannot be completed. Thank you very much Ms. Redmond. More innovative products to come. :)

I'm curious as to who else has put serious development effort into this. It's hardly a new idea. I came up with it myself in high school after read some Issac Asimov story (probably a Foundation novel). I don't remember now if I read this exact idea or just something that lead me to this line of thinking. But I'm no engineer so it never went beyond "wouldn't it be cool if..." for me. I really hope this becomes a reality. My other idea which may or may not have been developed is putting this tech inside sneakers. Feel free to "run" with that idea if you can.

Why just human foot traffic? Could it be adapted to livestock, to allow cattle, goats, llamas, etc. to generate electriicity in rural areas of underdeveloped parts of the world? Possible use of microfinance loans to allow ordinary investors to help individual farmers, e.g. through www.Kiva.org.

No offense to Elizabeth, but there have been poeple investigating this well before her. Although it is great to see a young person step up and attempt a solution. I hope she makes it to market and is successful.

Dear Elizabeth, I think that people like you are great and this method of generating electricity is a novel way to do so. I am from India and I would lke to know if your product is already bieng used. In India it could mean a lot. Way to Go...
