charity: water is launching a birthday campaign to raise $1.5 million in 30 days. Join us and help give clean water to 150,000 people in Ethiopia.
See what the campaign is all about. Watch the 3-minute movie.
Dear friends,
Today we launch our biggest campaign to date, and we need your help to reach our goal. Two years and 633 water projects later, we want to continue fighting for the 1.1 billion people without clean water, and have focused on Ethiopia this September. We want to help not one, but at least 333 communities there by building freshwater wells in every one of them.
To do this, we need to raise $1.5 million, which can help more than 150,000 people get clean water. 100% of all the money we raise goes straight to building the wells, which will be proved with photos and GPS coordinates. And the first $400,000 raised will be matched 2x by Running the Sahara, the new feature film produced by Matt Damon, and a group of other donors.
But there's a catch. We want to raise the money before the end of September. We want to do in a month what we've done in a year.
Why September? It's the month of our two-year anniversary and my 33rd birthday. So instead of throwing another party, we're asking September babies to give up their birthday gifts with us. To ask for their age in dollars and fight to make birthdays possible for more people in Ethiopia.
Now most of you are not born in September, so we're asking you for $33 donations and your voice. Please share the story. Help us get the word out about the effort.
You've heard us talk about this campaign before... we're now excited to show you what we've been working on. Please watch the 3 minute trailer and visit the website.
There are three ways you can help.
1. donate $33
if you're not born in september, please consider giving $33 for my birthday.
2. spread the word
Tell people about what we're doing. Write about us, blog about us. Email your friends.
3. born in september or know someone who is? create a page here>
You'll be able to personalize your page and track all donations.

Hey Scott
What a great job your doing in Africa and around the world! At present I am working with our dedicated team of Kenyan Nationals in Northern Kenya. We are working with theTurkana people or as they call themselves the (Forgotten People). We have purchased a drilling rig and at present are completing our 5th well. I was hoping you could contact me about helping to raise awareness to the Turkana People and the Drilling Project!
Thank you
