Green House

Phew, it's been a while since I've had time to blog here. But I heard about something cool enough to take time to spread the word about.

Everyone knows my love for Nalgene (and all reusable water bottles, I don't discriminate. I just have a personal favorite.) Well, Nalgene is teaming up with a bunch of other green companies (and with my wife's PR company) to do a "Green House" promotion. A house in Burlington, VT is filled with a ton of green products (Seventh Generation, Brita, Nalgene, New Balance, Canis Goat Milk Skin Care, Cannondale/Schwinn, American Flatbread Co., Green Mountain Coffee roasters, Long Trail Beer, and Honda Insight...) and media members get to stay and try the products in a user-friendly environment.

The premise behind the Green House is to dispel the myths that living a sustainable lifestyle is unaffordable. Everyone is aware of the state of our economy and a general feeling is to save, save, save. The Green House seeks to show that living sustainably can be both easy and affordable. Green living and eco-friendliness shouldn't be abandoned due to looming financial uncertainty.

Hi there! I live in a small beach community in South Texas and I am trying to begin a campaign to recylce plastics. As time goes by I will try to incorporate all other recyclables, but in the highly conservative, red-neck soaked Texas region, baby steps are the best strategy. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can make this a successful campaign? What went well in your campaign? What didn't work so well? Thanks for your help! dmshurley@hotmail.com
