Japanese knotweed, Garlic Mustard, invasive species, Oh My!
Today was the first event of my Spring Environmental Teamworks. We went to Allendale Woods and prepared a site for a Grow Boston Greener tree planting that will occur on May 15th from 2-4pm. Our task for the evening included weeding out the Garlic Mustard and pruning away the Japanese knotweed. Both are invasive species that are keeping native plants from thriving.
It was great to hear that not only were we helping with the removal of invasive species, but that we were helping out Grow Boston Greener. If anyone is interested, there are a couple of GBG events coming up in the month of May, besides next week's planting at Allendale Woods (volunteers welcome!)
