Well, we have a Memory Box Painting Party on Feb. 7th. The guest list has grown and grown and it should be a really fun event. So this week I'll be busy base coating boxes with Zoë (A Small Victory's Board Secretary and my sister-in-law) in preparation for the party so that people can easily decorate. I'm really excited for this years Memory Box Painting Party because it's a great opportunity for those who have lost a loved one to create something in their memory. When I paint a memory box, I put a dragonfly on the bottom of each one, that is the symbol I associate with my daughter.

We are also preparing for our annual fundraiser. So far we have the even space secure, catering secure, MC/Auctioneer Brad Good from a local TV news station is secure, auction items are rolling in and tickets will be on sale soon. We are all so excited for this event and we've been working really hard. We are trying to set up an auction committee meeting for Feb. 8th to talk about ticket sales, auction items and general structure of the event. It's a long haul but things are coming together nicely. I'm so excited for this event as it'll be in celebration of three years of supporting bereaved families.

With so many new things in store for 2009, I know this is going to be a great year for our cause.

I love the idea of a Memory Box Painting Party.  It sounds like a very tangible and powerful way to remember a lost loved one. If any pictures were taken of the finished products, I’d love to see them—and I’m sure your backers would as well.
