POWERleap on Discovery Channel

Aug 15, 2008 02:40 pm

Last March 13, I spent a day with a TV from CBS who had been commissioned by the Discovery Channel to shoot a Television Series that was to be called FutureLife.  The series was meant to highlight big ideas for the future of cities that will transition us into the next generation of design, energy, consumerism... you name it, they found a project highlighting it.

They got wind of POWERleap through industry connections and through a competition POWERleap was a runner-up in last April 2007 called the Next Generation Design Competition put on by Metropolis Magazine.  They will be featuring POWERleap in the show as well as the 2007 Next Gen. winners- The Civil Twilight Collective who invented a street light that responds to the brightness of the moon.

Months later, the Discovery Channel show has finally begun airing.  The title of the program has changed to NextWorld, but the content has remained the same. As some of you may have seen, the premier of the show aired the first week of August with a short spot on POWERleap. I was thrilled to get correspondence from viewers across the country asking for more information about the project, donating their support, and asking how they might get involved at the ground level.

For those of you who did not see the premier, don't fret- the full episode does not air until October when which I will be sure to alert you to the air time.  Also, to accompany the premier of the show, Metropolis Magazine will be printing an article marking the progress of both Civil Twilight's and POWERleap's post 2007 Next Generation Design Competition. This should premier in the 2008 October issue to which i'll alert you to as well!

As always, Ill continue to keep you posted on the non-confidential exciting events happening along the POWERleap journey.
