Eco-villages in Uganda

OME Villages’ goal is to develop villages that will house, feed and educate orphans through sustainable living. Development of the first village will begin this summer (2010) in Uganda. We are hosting a certified Permaculture Design Course for young leaders in Uganda and international volunteers.

And where exactly do you plan to work in Uganda meaning are you going to build an entirely new village or rebuild an existing one with your Permaculture scheme. I am sure by now you have identified a specific location since you plan to begin working in the next 6-7 months.

Seb: Hello from Kenya. I love the idea of the project you are building especially the sustainable food systems. I would be interested to learn about how many children you plan to support in each village and then the amount of arable land and water (green or blue) water resources which will be available not just as potable drinking water but also for irrigation of crops. I do have a few practical questions: 1. Is Global Peace Hut an NGO or for profit organization? It isn't explained on your website and you are selling products without listing a tax exemption of any kind. 2. Also, I have no idea who the "we" in Global Peace Hut is ... you have no information on your founder, MD or field team. 3. Do you have any projects actively running in Africa? 4. Is your "certificate" being accredited by the Permaculture Research institute of Canada? 5. If yes, what major university are they associated to because I did a google search and could not find them. 6. Who designed this certificate course? meaning whose name and reputation back up the value you are offering to people who want to work in rural development. 7. Are you working with David Yates in any way from CA and Genesis? Sorry for such direct questions but normally like to see more information from an organization which is basically using an online community to recruit or sell something, which you are. Look forward to your feedback. Rachel
