  • Hey Eleanor... I was just about to email you about the blog and then I saw this.... Thankyou thankyou thankyou... For everyone's information... the artist who took this image is Eduardo Cano from Mexico and he is an insomnia sufferer... He has a whole series in this theme and they are magnificent!!! You can find his works at the AAU here: http://artactionunioncommunity.ning.com/profile/eduardocano or you may like to visit Nineteen74 to view his works also... http://www.nineteen74.com/contact/eduardo-cano The art action union is also about turning activism into art just by calling it so... If you have pamphlets, flyers, photos, vids, etc. of your changing actions... we would love to see them added to the gallery! Hope to see you around again... And Eleanor... thank you so much again for your WONDERFULNESS!!!

  • Hi Tim, Unfortunately the weblink you gave didn't work at this time, however I read your changents profile and am most interested in the work you are doing. The conditions do so sound like they need some colour! There are many ways that I am thinking off the top of my head that this could be a way of introducing young creative individuals to an instant audience. It is an audience that is diverse and creative and constructive. If you wish to discuss anything further with me, I can be contacted via email at: kaoskyane@yahoo.com The only limitation I can imagine with the way the network is set up at present is (we are very much starting out at the moment and am excited by the initial interest) that we are relying very heavily on the free gallery and forum space of redbubble.com. The space is free, practical and open and also displays NO external advertising. However, their user policy states that members must be 16 yrs and over... We can negotiate around this if you have younger children involved, by creating an account for you as a community group that is administered by an adult, the work can be uploaded there and commented on and viewed by the rest of the community, perhaps purchased. You could even raise money this way for a cause of your choosing. However, there would be a limit on discussion for minors in this webspace. Any work loaded to this group would then be syndicated in other "art action union places" with links back to the 'shop' for exposure and purchase. We can also launch little campaigns to specifically bring awareness to the audience of these children's individual stories. I am also looking into setting up lots of Art Action Union Shops in other print on demand web galleries, which will expand our reach further and also add to the products available. If the artists are under 16 however, I am sure we can figure out a way to get them involved and participating, to find ears and eyes... However, at this early stage in our growth (which wanes and wares as much as it boosts etc.) we need to rely on the audience we have, which is predominately at redbubble. Of course, with each project and campaign we undertake and throw out there, more people become aware and hopefully participate from time to time. All news is being syndicated further each time and the email list has begun to grow, the website has not officially launched yet (in fact it is very much beta) and with that we will also be throwing together a magazine, put together by a man from the group in Canada. Free publicity is always a struggle, and I don't make any promises about anything, because I am not a pr company... however... one thing is overwhelmingly clear to me and that if there is nothing else, the process of making and producing a piece of art that is born from a therapeutic or cleansing place, can work magic... but then having even 10 people to show it to, can be extra-nice. We also accept writing if that is more the mind of the creative, and one day, I may even incorporate music... oh the possibilities are only limited by time... :-) thanks so much for your interest Tim... I hope we can find a nice place. Kath
