About Me

There is nothing much that i can talk about me. I am just an ordinary citizen with extraordinary dreams. Have been working in the corporate word for more than 11 years, in the field on media. Do i love my work? not really... but i need to, to pay the EMIs of the world :) I do have some extra ordinary dreams though. I always wanted to do my post graduation in Social Work. Being born in one of the traditional Indian family with Indian Values, my mom and whole lot of my relatives went on a "no way" arguement on my suggestion. They felt being a girl its not a profession that I should take up (like who will marry me post that kinds) :) So i finally agreed to all of them and took up my MBA. Have been working since then but heart of heart always wanted to work for some group that works with under priviledged children. So started volunteering on weekends. Had to give up because of work pressure and shift of cities. Over the years i figured even within my friend lists (on fb) nobody wants to spend money for charity! I would like to use all the work experience that I have had so far to convince and talk to people on need to keep some money aside for the under privileged... now thats the extraordinary dream that the ordinary I have!

My Recent Comments

  • Hi Sol read some of your blogs and your story. Truly inspiring. I am based out of India and would be shifting to Nairobi in a couple of months from now. Am still part of the so called corporate - media - world. Have always wanted to do something more Humane and to be part of something that would help women and children in need... never knew how to go about with it without giving up my job! for a while when i was single I had volunteered on weekends with an NGO here, that accomodates street children and provide them with education. I used to spend my weekends with those Kids and teach them Science and English. Most of those children are not orphans but have been left behind by their parents as they have no means to take care of them. Some of them have gone through physical abuse, drug abuse and some have ran away from home. It was one of the most emotionally fulfilling thing that I had done in my life. I just got married 3 weeks back and my Husband and I had made this request to our friends not to get us gifts but in turn give us money that we could give to some terminally ill patients. You would be surprised to know that not one of them gave us any money - not even 1 dollar!!! Some came with flowers and some even discussed on getting stuff for our home but nobody wanted to give for charity!!! My husband was prepared for this as he was expecting this, but it truly came as a shocker to me I didnt think people would be so closed about giving away money to charity! Today something else that was funny thats happened. On my FB account 2 days back I had posted my blog and i had so many 'likes' and comments on it and today I posted a blog from changent on a girl who needs a home to run her NGO - not one has so far liked it or commented on it! I would really like to do something where I could use my experience as a media sales person to convince people to keep something aside for those people who need it... Let me also know if we could work together and if I could be of some help to you! Thanks :)
