  • Hey Rachel, what happened to you is really scary I must say... I hope you will feel better soon! You're strong and will definitely be fine, I'm sure... Funny you should mention this: "I decided to blog about this because I think it is important for all of you living in the first world to realize that working in a post conflict or development country is never easy. There are not just challenges of water and electricity but real dangers. Really poor people are driven to extremes to survive. And for those of you working in these countries, please remember to be careful with your personal safety!" Let me add one thing though: last september, I was robbed and pretty badly assaulted... In PARIS! It also happened at night, in front of my house, where I'm supposed to be "safe". I was also very grateful that he did not rape me when I ended up on the floor, with this guy stepping on me to get my bag...You're right, poor people are driven to extremes to survive, and this does not only happen in third world countries unfortunately! Violence is everywhere nowadays, cause inequalities also occur everywhere I think... So please, don't stigmatize Africa. You will remember these guys for quite some time, that's for sure, I can myself still hear and feel this man's breath on my neck sometimes. But we have to keep going, and I'm sure they had nothing against us as a person, but rather against our belongings... We're lucky to be able to keep the faith, nobody will stop us, right? Eventually, you and Sara will get better, you have each other in this! And remember what you told me once: follow your instincts, always... and EVERYWHERE on this -nonetheless- (BIO)tiful planet!
